About IGIMS
The Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna, is an autonomous medical institute established by the Government of Bihar in 1983. It is named after the former Prime Minister of India, Smt. Indira Gandhi.
The institute was conceived with the vision of providing advanced tertiary healthcare to the people of Bihar and neighboring states, coupled with excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and groundbreaking clinical research.
Spread over a lush 60-acre campus in Sheikhpura, Patna, IGIMS has evolved into a cornerstone of healthcare in Eastern India. Our infrastructure includes a 750-bedded tertiary care hospital, state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities, modern operation theaters, and advanced ICUs.
We are committed to the principles of equity, accessibility, and affordability. A significant portion of our services is provided under various government health schemes to ensure that quality healthcare reaches the underserved sections of society.
